All Things

Gordon R. Vaughan

About me

I'm an aerospace engineer/researcher/entrepreneur who's been doing basic research related to system modelling and psychology, with various applications, for the past 19 years. It's more than I want to try explaining on a page like this, but Susan and I have a very small company, run from a home office, that is aiming to develop these ideas into practical products. It's actually some pretty neat stuff.

We also have a big family which we homeschool in the Houston, Texas, area. We belong to a conservative Presbyterian (PCA) church. Between family, business, and homeschool, we are always having to do something new and different, and have gotten used to having to solve a lot of problems in creative ways.

I have always had a lot of different interests, most of which I've never had as much time to pursue as I would have liked. When I was a child, I probably had close to 2 dozen hobbies, or at least was trying to! Through college and since then I've gradually whittled these down to just two active hobbies, reading and gardening.

Reading and gardening are the two hobbies that seem to best fit my lifestyle (astronomy, for instance, never really worked out, living too close to town). If I could add back in one more hobby, it would probably be music. I also used to fly small airplanes, but have never considered that a hobby, but rather an extension of my professional interests. Hopefully I'll be able to add that back in some time.

Since I started it in mid-2005, All Things seems to have morphed mostly into a blog about my technical and business interests, rather than my hobbies, etc., but you may still find an occasional post about the latter.
